Bike Clubs, Waccamaw Trailblazers
It’s pretty amazing to be on vacation in another state and spot your friends from another mountain bike club gracing the front pages of the local newspaper! Yep, while vacationing in Myrtle Beach this Thanksgiving, I noticed The Sun News running a front page spread on the recent Stache N Dash cross country race put on by the Waccamaw Trail Blazers!
Just like Wilmington, people do not equate mountain biking with the beach, but WTB breaks this stereotype as they have several fun off road biking trails around these parts.
Congrats to Marshall Brown, friend and president of Waccamaw Trail Blazers, as he leads the club to continued growth each year. I still remember my first call to Marshall a few years ago and him being excited that there were around 3 off-ride riders in his club! My prediction is that WTB will meet the 50 member requirements from SORBA by 2015 no doubt! Can’t wait!

Benefit Races, Bicycle Post, Bike Clubs
East Carolina Velo Cycling Club is hosting a great bike event, Bike for Tots, on Sunday, November 24th. Bike for Tots consists 2 separate events. A Cross-Country MTB Race and a Road Ride starting and ending at the same location (the Bicycle Post Trails, Falkland NC). The entry fee is an unwrapped toy with value greater than $15. Without a toy donation the entry fee is $20 – so bring a toy!! This is meant to be a fun event to help make Christmas a little more special for some local children while getting those of the athletic persuasion outside for healthy competition. In the end we all win! Make sure to RSVP so that there will be enough food for all those attending!
